Hell's Gate National Park

Your safari starts here, and we're so excited to be here with you. Meet your guide and ask any questions you may have. Then let's go out together and go on the safari you've been waiting for.

Enjoy the freedom to get out of the vehicle and walk around in Hell's Gate National Park. Without any predators to be wary of, the park has some fantastic scenery to explore on foot, with the red cliffs of Hell's Gate Gorge a fine backdrop for seeing zebra, giraffe, impala, buffalo and rock hyrax. Beautiful rock formations and narrow Lower Gorge are highlights of getting to know this park.

Not far from the shores of Lake Naivasha, Sweet Lake Resort has an excellent location which is good for exploring the lake and surrounding area. Rooms here are simple and come with tiled floors; some have mosquito nets. You'll also enjoy the restaurant and bar, and the manicured grounds are lovely and green.

Day 2

Lake Nakuru National Park

On your visit to Lake Nakuru National Park, you can expect some fantastic wildlife experiences. Flamingos have returned to the lake in varying numbers. You might also see tree-climbing lions, endangered Rothschild's giraffes, and the park's thriving populations of both black and white rhinos. And because the park is relatively compact, your chances of seeing these and other animals are excellent. The park's scenery, too, is a highlight, with the picturesque lake as a centerpiece. The acacia woodlands are especially pretty, and the views of the lake are best from the Out of Africa Lookout (where some scenes from the 1985 film were shot).

Enjoy being inside the national park here at the Wildlife Club of Kenya Guest House Nakuru, especially when zebra, buffalo and rhino pass right by the gate. Accommodation is simple but well-looked after, the beds have mosquito nets, and bathrooms are shared. You'll find a kitchen and dining room inside the house as well.

Day 3

Masai Mara National Reserve

You're in for a really special safari experience on your visit to the Masai Mara National Reserve. This is one of the best places in Kenya to look for big cats. You may see so many elephant, giraffe, Thomson's gazelle, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest and hippo that you stop noticing them after a while! And these are just the start: watch for the reserve's population of black rhino, which are present in the Mara Triangle although they can be pretty hard to spot. Beautiful savannah grasslands, acacia trees, distant escarpments and more than 500 possible bird species are other highlights you can look forward to.
